VMI LAT100 Advanced Researcher Training

The aim of this comprehensive course is to have in-depth understanding of contact mechanics of rubber samples based on the latest research. Additionally, we support you with data analysis examples with LATExplorer which will equip you with the essential skills and understandings to extract meaningful insights form your datasets. Through a combination of theory, hand-on exercises and using your own data, we will guide you through the entire data analysis process. This course will be given by Dr. Marzieh Salehi.

  • LAT100 Introduction and concepts
  • Test set up review
  • An overview of the test principles
  • Essential for testing, test preparation, and workflow
  • Abrasion test and data evaluation
  • Grip tests (dry/wet/ice) and data evaluation
  • Rolling resistance test and data evaluation
  • Dynamic testing, latest developments on rapid tests for getting closer to drive simulation
  • Data analysis software (LATExplorer)
  • Review on the previous research and LAT100 correlations with road data

Target group

This course is intended for researchers with basic experience on the applicable machine. It is also possible for operators to join the researchers to extend their knowledge on LAT100.

Required prior knowledge

  • Participants must have basic knowledge of the English language. If this is not the case, we expect you to arrange an technical interpreter to be available during the training.
  • Basic knowledge over rubber and tire physics is helpful.
