VMI proudly presents multiple new automation solutions including the automatic splice unit and automatic recipe loading as first steps towards increased automation in the retreading industry.
The VMI RETRAXX has been designed for application of the extruded hot cushion gum on a ‘buffed’ tire casing. The retreading process currently requires significant skilled manual labor while skilled workers are harder to find and labor costs are increasing.
VMI believes that automation is a key component in order to decrease costs and build a more consistent production process. In 2024, the automated wingformer setting was introduced as a new optional upgrade on the RETRAXX. It enables the operator to start automatic cycle, meaning that the individual wingformers move to the optimal position, without operator interference.
At The Tire Cologne, VMI will introduce several new solutions to further automate the retreading process, including the automatic splice unit which will be on display and available for short demonstrations. Account Manager Ronald Noppers will take the stage on Thursday June 11th at 12:45 to deliver a presentation about automation solution in retreading.
