VMI has been a leader in the technical rubber industry for around 70 years, and our story is not just about longevity but our deep roots in every community where we operate.
Early Years
VMI was founded the month after the end of World War 2 in an idyllic farming region of the central Netherlands. Life had been harsh for the local people, with intense fighting taking place across the country and famine that led to many deaths. VMI was born out of optimism for the future and a strong determination to serve the community by helping customers grow and prosper.

Focus on Rubber
Over the decades VMI has contributed to a very wide range of sectors and Technical Rubber has been at the heart of VMI’s business for most of that time.
As leaders in automated, single stage tire production, VMI has led in development of batch-offs, one of VMI’s earliest products in the rubber industry. A real step-change happened in 2005, when VMI acquired the Extrusion business of German rubber manufacturer, AZ- and this opened opportunities not only in extrusion but also in Retreading technology and other aspects of advanced compound development and application.

By combining continuous extrusion with advanced gear-pumps, VMI has pioneered Just In Time extrusion, providing greater precision, lower energy use, reduced costs and higher quality to industries as diverse as medical devices at one end of the spectrum, right through to industrial pumps and oilfield machinery at the other.

Today, apart from its headquarters in Epe (the Netherlands) and technical centre for extrusion in Cham (Germany), VMI has regional technical rubber centres of excellence delivering rapid, expert support in Stow (OH-USA), Yantai (China), Leszno (Poland), Chonburi (Thailand), Shah Alam (Malaysia), Vadodara (India) and Itatiaia (Brazil).
