Each year, VMI participates in a challenging sportive event to raise money for charity. For 2025, VMI is organizing its own sporting challenge, VMI Miles for Life, to raise money for KWF Dutch Cancer Society. From 9 till 11 September 2025, 100 VMI employees from all over the world will tour through the beautiful center of the Netherlands. They will do so on a racing bike, gravel bike, MTB or as a runner or walker. With the goal to raise much money to help fight cancer.

KWF Dutch Cancer Society

KWF Kankerbestrijding/KWF Dutch Cancer Society was founded in 1949. Back then, the prognosis for cancer patients was bleak: 5 years post-diagnosis, only 49% of the cancer patients was still alive. Nowadays, this number has increased to 68% .

Through stimulation of focused scientific research, policy making, knowledge transfer and collaboration with our stakeholders, KWF is dedicated to improving the lives of cancer patients and their loved ones. Our organisational structure enables us to respond quickly to developments in society and research. Examples include our campaign for the HPV-vaccine, which prevents HPV-related cancers. And our support for new initiatives to stimulate broader availability of cancer drugs.

Its the vision of KWF to participate globally and to share expertise and experience they have acquired from nearly 65 years and to learn from other organizations as well. KWF prefers to collaborate with international oriented organizations like the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the International Cancer Research Partnership (ICRP), the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and many others.
